  LIANZA TEL SIG ONLINE JOURNAL DISCUSSION GROUP
  Last Thursday, every second month, 5.00PM-6.00PM

  LIANZA TEL SIG Journal Discussion Groups meet on a bi-monthly basis to discuss articles relevant to tertiary institutions. Each article is connected to a LIANZA Body of Knowledge (BoK).

  With ANZAC day falling on the last Thursday of April we have moved the online discussion to Wednesday April 24 at 5pm. We would love for you to join us in what looks to be another interesting discussion around AI.

  LIANZA CHILDREN & YOUTH SERVICES NETWORK
  Every second Tuesday of the month, 2PM 

  LIANZA offers a time and space for children and youth service librarians and library staff to connect in a peer-to-peer network. This network supports anyone from within the profession engaging with children, youth, parents and whānau.

  We invite you to jump online on the second Tuesday of the month to share your ideas, experiences and questions with your CYS colleagues across Aotearoa. From working in partnership with early childhood centres and schools, class visits, engaging teens, holiday programmes, summer reading, use of te reo Māori and sign language in programming – there’s lots to discuss. We have had some marvellous presentations and discussions - let the good work continue.

Starting children on their reading journey is one thing, but are we ready to give them directions? Swap ideas and suggestions on how we can be the navigators they need.
  • June 11 – How to create a title that engages your community. A look at marketing and messaging to get engagement in your library activities. Join Rob Baigent Digital and communications manager at Te Ohumauri o Kirikiriroa Hamilton City Libraries for a look at what social media platforms to use, how best to use them, and a look at examples of library marketing that work.

  LIANZA FREEDOM-TO-READ TOOLKIT WEBINAR - CHALLENGING DIS-INFORMATION

  In this webinar, we will be joined by Kate Hannah and Nicole Skews Poole of the Disinformation Project, who will look at the difference between mis and dis information. They will discuss the current environment of disinformation impacting Aotearoa and how organisations can protect themselves. Louise LaHatte and Marlies Zyp-Van der laan will look at library processes and policies and the responsibilities of cultural institutions. They will explore the publications that have been promoted for inclusion and challenged for exclusion in libraries.

  LIANZA TE WHAKAKITENGA AA KAIMAI WEEKEND SCHOOL
  Saturday June 08, 9AM - 4.30PM & Sunday June 09, 9.30AM - 1PM

  Tungia te ururoa, kia tupu whakaritorito te tapu o te harakeke.
  Clear away the undergrowth so the new flax shoots can grow.

  It has been a few long years since we have gathered together for a regional weekend school but we are excited to reinvigorate this tradition. We will be holding the 2024 LIANZA Te Whakakitenga aa Kaimai Weekend School in Matamata, in the shadow of the Kaimai Range.

  Our weekend school is a two-day event - a ‘mini-conference’ where library and information professionals can present their work, innovations or other topics of interest. Our theme this year is change.

  This weekend is also about library professionals taking the time to network and socialise with one another. Throughout the weekend there will be time for discussion and planned social events, so that you can make new connections and reconnect with library colleagues across the region.
