  Come join us for the LIANZA monthly waiata practice.

  Do you know all the words of LIANZA’s special waiata? It was prepared especially for the Association in 1995 in both Māori and English, by Mike Kawana.

  Join us in this session to practice this waiata and others as we get ready for LIANZA 2025 Conference.

  This event will be facilitated by LIANZA Council member Hana Whaanga and comms advisor Angie Cairncross. The LIANZA waiata can be found at the bottom of this page and you’ll find other waiata in the Tikanga guide here.

  LIANZA CHILDREN & YOUTH SERVICES NETWORK
  Every second Tuesday of the month, 2PM 

  LIANZA offers a time and space for children and youth service librarians and library staff to connect in a peer-to-peer network. This network supports anyone from within the profession engaging with children, youth, parents and whānau.

  We invite you to jump online on the second Tuesday of the month to share your ideas, experiences and questions with your CYS colleagues across Aotearoa. From working in partnership with early childhood centres and schools, class visits, engaging teens, holiday programmes, summer reading, use of te reo Māori and sign language in programming – there’s lots to discuss. We have had some marvellous presentations and discussions - let the good work continue.

  April 8 – Engaging Pacific Youth – Monika Prasad from Tupu Youth Library

  In this session, Monika Prasad will talk about the programmes and ways Tupu Youth Library targets Pacific youth. She will discuss how Tupu Youth work with this client group, exploring what works and what doesn’t, the partnerships they have with other groups and the content, activities and collections they include for their Pacific communities. Please bring your own experiences to the discussion.

  Leading this webinar is Dr Saima Qutab, a lecturer in the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management at the University of Auckland Business School. She earned her PhD in Information Systems from the University of Auckland in 2024, focusing on the value of co-creation in the GLAM sector crowdsourcing. She also has an MPhil in Library and Information Science and over 15 years of experience working in academic, school, special and national digital libraries in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

  LIANZA TEL SIG Journal Discussion Groups meet on a bi-monthly basis to discuss articles relevant to tertiary institutions. Each article is connected to a LIANZA Body of Knowledge (BoK).
