INAUGURAL LIANZA SLISANINE SESSION: PURCHASING AND LICENCING eRESOURCES: THE CHALLENGE FOR SPECIAL LIBRARIES
Te Aka Matua Reading Room, Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand, 55 Cable Street, Wellington - May 12, 12-1PM

Taking inspiration from the Wellington IM Community of Practice meetings that used to be held on the mezzanine floor of the public library (hence the name), the LIANZA SLIS Committee is hosting an inaugural LIANZA SLISanine session. The format is simple: A topic goes out with several meaty questions for discussion. Attendees come along, sit in a circle where everyone can contribute, share knowledge and learn from each other. A couple of facilitators will keep the session on track and steer things away from general descent into a “whinge session”. It’s all about creating an opportunity to come together to share stories and ideas.

The first LIANZA SLISanine session will discuss the challenges posed by purchasing and licencing of eResources (eBooks, databases, eJournals) for special libraries.

Questions to consider:

  • How well do we, special librarians, manage the challenges of purchasing and licencing models for ebooks, databases, eJournals?
  • Is there consistency across the special library sector in regards to purchasing and licencing of eResources?
  • What initiatives are being resourced (funding or otherwise) now and in the short term for delivering resources across multiple platforms?
  • Has COVID-19 had any impact for special libraries in this space? What future changes are coming?

  • What: LIANZA SLISanine Session: Purchasing and Licencing eResources: The Challenge for Special Libraries
  • When: Wednesday 12th May 2021, 12-1 pm
  • Where: Te Aka Matua Reading Room, Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand, 55 Cable Street, Wellington

Take the lift to L4, go to the Treaty of Waitangi exhibition space and someone will let you up the stairs to the Reading Room.

Any questions about this event, or any suggestions for future SLISanine sessions, please contact the LIANZA SLIS Committee: Jo Rusk (Co-Convenor) joanne.rusk@police.govt.nz
