Laura Caygill, Community Experiences and Diversity Team Leader at Waimakariri Libraries, will lead a discussion on positive and inclusive approaches to behaviour management and connecting and engaging with children and youth in library spaces. The meetup will focus on how to create a welcoming and supportive space with proactive rather than reactive behaviour management. The webinar will include whakawhanaungatanga – how relationships are at the centre of fostering good behaviour, āhurutanga – knowing what space you want to create and then working with your team and community to build it, building relationships and connecting with local schools and parents, getting commitment and buy-in from teams for what might be a new approach and considerations around the Vulnerable Children’s Act and privacy considerations.
