AI like ChatGPT is a hot topic in the technology world, but what’s hype and what’s real? This 30-minute presentation explains the reality of AI language models: what they can do, what they are as of yet unable to do, and the unique challenges they present to libraries. There will be an opportunity for Q&A afterwards.

About Nicolas Hansen:
Nicholas is the librarian and resource manager for the Mental Health Education and Resource Centre, an NGO that facilitates mental health education in Christchurch and Canterbury. His interests include the history of social sciences and technology, and the psychology of fringe beliefs. When he is not making PowerPoints or running the library, you can find him running Dungeons and Dragons games, cooking, or reading about the history of the middle ages.
