LIANZA 2022 ANNUAL HUI
Thursday, February 17 & Friday, February 18 @ 9:15AM - 11:15AM

You are invited to join colleagues from across the library and information sector at the inaugural LIANZA annual hui. This meeting aims to bring together LIANZA Council members and special interest, regional and standing committees and interested members from all LIANZA communities.

Why have an annual hui?
This annual hui was proposed as part of the LIANZA organisational review in 2021 and aims to engage members to share cross-sector views and information, agree the ‘big strategic issues’ and develop a whole association view.

How will the hui be held?
The hui will be held by Zoom, with two consecutive sessions; Thursday February 17 and Friday February 18, 9.15-11.15am.

We prefer you to attend both sessions, but if you can only attend one, we welcome your participation.

Who will facilitate the annual hui?
We are delighted that LIANZA’s first annual hui will be facilitated by Brendan Fitzgerald. Brendan is the director of Library Consultancy 641 DI. He works on library and not-for-profit strategy with a particular focus on library infrastructure, digital inclusion, and understanding loneliness. He is currently working in partnership with Civica to produce The One Thing, a thought leadership project that focuses on critical or emerging challenges for the library sector.

How will the thinking at the hui be used?
In 2021, LIANZA invited around 10 other GLAMMIR associations and organisations to begin a conversation about future collaboration on March 1. The National Librarian, Rachel Esson and Chief Archivist, Stephen Clarke will also join this meeting.

The work at the LIANZA annual hui in February will inform the strategic challenges and opportunities that LIANZA share with other associations in March and will also be used in the development of the next LIANZA strategic plan and priorities.

What will we do at the hui?
You will engage with colleagues in two lively hui, with small and whole group conversations.
There will be laughter, there will be deep thinking, there will be discussions and consensus building. 
You will share your perspectives from your ‘part’ of the library and information sector to the following discussions

  •  What is the key challenge/s your institution faces for next 5-10 years?
  • Is this the same for the sector?
  • What solutions immediately come to mind and why?
  • The pandemic and accelerated change - what good things have emerged and what blind spots didn’t we see?
  • What overlaps and priorities does LIANZA share with other GLAMMIR associations?
  • Potential collaborative projects – what are easy wins and what are more long-term projects?
  • What can LIANZA offer other GLAMMIR associations/institutions and what would help us with our objectives?
