9.45am - 10.10am Meet & greet

10.10 -11am Working with teens: Lynn Vare

Lynn Vare (Ngāpuhi, Te Rarawa) is the Youth Services Supervisor at City Library in Dunedin. She started her career in libraries in 1992 at the Bill Robertson Library at the Dunedin College of Education. Completing her MLIS in 2002 while at the University of Otago Central Library she worked in reference, distance education and as Māori Resources Librarian before taking a short sabbatical to hang out with her young son and play in her band. In 2013 she became the librarian at Otago Boys’ High School and wrangled over 800 teenage boys to discover library services for young people was where she was truly meant to be.

University of Otago College of Education Creative NZ Children’s Writer in Residence 2021; she is a writer of novels for young people, short fiction and poetry; a teacher of creative writing; and is Director and tutor with Write On School for Young Writers in Christchurch

12pm - 1pm Lunch (NOT provided, plenty of cafes in Roxburgh though)

1pm - 2pm Virtual Reality: What’s up at Invercargill City Library

2.05 – 2.45 Summer Reading Programme: Show & Tell

5 minutes for each library to tell us what you did, how well it worked and any other thoughts? Eg. Is it time to move on from SRPs? What else could we do?

2.45-3pm Wind-up/What topics shall we cover next?

All payments need to be received two weeks before the event. 

Substitutions
If you have registered and paid but are unable to attend then you are welcome to substitute someone to take your place. Please contact us with the new attendees name and details as soon as possible. You can make substitutions up until one week prior to the workshop.

Cancellations and Refunds
Please email officeadmin@lianza.org.nz if you wish to amend or cancel your registration. A full refund is available up until two weeks before the event. No refund can be given for cancellations received after this date & a 20% admin fee will be charged for cancellations with outstanding balances.
