When Disaster Strikes: Keeping a library service going when things go wrong

The LIANZA SLIS committee is very pleased to invite you along to a session featuring speakers from Statistics New Zealand, Victoria University of Wellington and Wellington City Libraries. Jane Brooker, Kim Clayton, Janice Keys and Laurinda Thomas will talk about their experiences dealing with recent challenges.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Until recently Jane Brooker was Manager Client Services at Victoria University Library for over 6 and a half years, having previously worked in university and polytechnic libraries in the Manawatu.

Kim Clayton is a current Team Leader at Victoria University Library, based at Kelburn. She co-manages the large Client Services team. Kim has over 10 years’ experience in both public and academic libraries and has a strong focus on customer engagement, user experience and team development.

Janice Keys is an Advisor for Statistics NZ in the Data & Information Management team delivering library services. Her current role includes customer needs & request, purchasing & processing resources, liaising with vendors, interloans, delivery of licenced product, and a regular What’s New to staff. Janice has worked at Stats for 15 years and was previously at the Energy Library, Electricity Corporation of NZ, Government Printing Office. She has also spent time working as a librarian on contract for other special libraries. She is currently working toward revalidating her RLIANZA next year.

Laurinda Thomas is the Libraries and Community Spaces Manager at Wellington City Council. Over the last 20 years she has worked across the Information, Libraries and IT sectors, and is a former LIANZA President.

  • Cost: $7 for LIANZA RLIANZA and student members, $7.50 for LIANZA and Te Ropu Whakahau members, $8.50 for LIANZA institutional member staff and $10 for others
